I’ve seen it more times than I can count.
Well-meaning organisations or executives using AI to “save time”, only to dilute their credibility, confuse their audience, or slowly sound like everyone else.
AI tools promised us efficiency.
What many organisations got instead was brand damage, reputation risk, and a growing pile of generic content.
And let’s be real. It’s not AI’s fault.
It’s ours. Or more accurately, it’s a leadership gap.
We handed over the keyboard without a strategy, without a voice, and without a plan.
I’ve seen the consequences up close:
- Robotic blogs going live on sector websites
- Policy briefs rewritten into nonsense by ChatGPT with no human sense-check
- CEOs unknowingly eroding their credibility with every LinkedIn post
AI isn’t going anywhere. But neither is your reputation.
You need both: tech that works and a voice that holds.
As someone who’s spent years in CEO and comms leadership roles, I get it.
You’re stretched. And you have this new tool that gives you all the confidence in the world to press send.
But you can’t afford to let automation flatten your voice or your influence.
Your voice is too valuable to be left to chance.
This isn’t about plugging in another tool.
It’s about restoring clarity, consistency and confidence in how you use AI across communications, policy and internal ops.

– Use AI to amplify, not erase, your message
Why This Matters
You don’t need to become a tech expert. But you do need to protect your brand, your narrative and your values.
If you’re unsure how AI fits into your workflow, or you’re starting to see cracks in your comms that didn’t exist six months ago, it’s time to hit pause and recalibrate.
Let’s get this right before the wrong voice takes over.
AI Check For This Post:
Hey there, I learnt to write before AI. It was the 90’s – right before the internet was a thing. We used em dashes and hyphens with abandon and no shame. Spell check was a game changer.
To be fair (and I’m not being up myself), but I think AI was taught how to write by Gen X (that’s me and my mates). Anyway, I’m adding this icon to show you that I am human and that I’m not opposed to AI, I just don’t rely on it 100% and neither should you!
Today it was 6%. I still need a spell checker.
